The thriller drama film "Next Sohee," starring Bae Doona, will hit local theaters next month.
Production company Twinplus Partners on Monday announced the movie's local premiere, following its debut as the closing film at last year's Critics' Week in April.
Critics' Week is a sidebar event of the Cannes Film Festival, and is dedicated to the first or second features of filmmakers from all around the world.
The movie follows the story of high school student So-hee (Kim Si-eun) and detective Oh Yu-jin (Bae) who is investigating So-hee's murder.
So-hee starts job training at a call center but struggles with the pressure from the stressful workplace environment, which leads to her death. The detective, who has something in common with her, starts to follow traces to reveal the truth behind the mysterious incident that leads to So-hee's death.
The movie is directed and written by July Jung, who previously directed the drama film "A Girl at My Door," which was invited to the "Un Certain Regard" selection of the 67th Cannes Film Festival in 2014.
"Next Sohee" is the second film Bae and the director have worked on together since the 2014 film.
