Traveling with loved ones is a delightful experience, yet it can also get stressful especially if it's in a foreign country, filled with the possibility of running into mishaps in unfamiliar surroundings. KBS' new reality travel show "Family World Tour" explores the fun but chaotic experiences of traveling overseas through celebrity families.

"When families put a hold on their daily lives and go on a trip, they tend to have certain positive expectations but they often face some sort of bizarre struggles. This is a travel show but it also takes a close look at families," producer Kim Sung-min said during an online press conference, Thursday.

"This is a reality show that humorously explores the dissonance between family members as they face different struggles during their overseas vacations."

The new show, set to start on Sunday, will follow four celebrities ― TV personality Seo Dong-joo, actor Kim Seung-hyun, actress Go Eun-ah and singer Na Tae-joo ― each traveling with their families to different countries, like Taiwan and France. Singer Kyuhyun, comedian Park Na-rae and actress Lee Yu-ri will host the show.

The producer, who previously led the reality show "The Return of Superman," explained he got the idea for the show from his own personal experience.

"I went on a vacation to Guam with my kid, wife and parents. As my wife was traveling with her parents-in-law, she was running into incidents. And watching her falling into chaos, I felt this could be a funny variety show-type element."

The hosts, Park and Kyuhyun, shared that they related to the experiences of the celebrity families during their travels, adding that they have had similar experiences traveling with their own families.

"After learning about the show's format, it reminded me of my own family trip in the past, which was bizarre," Park said. "Since I was the one planning the trip, we ran into all sorts of incidents, changes in schedules, tears and fights with each other. And I remember thinking it would've been really funny if we captured this on camera. There's this natural, exciting vibe only families can make, which is really hilarious."

Kyuhyun expressed that he was surprised to see how chaotic the cast members' trips could get.

"I love traveling and enjoy going on trips with my friends … But when I was offered the chance to join the show, I didn't really have any idea what kind of show it was (just from the title)," he said. "I didn't expect to see such chaotic situations. I, too, remember my family trips weren't as fantastic. So I think viewers will be able to relate (to the cast members) in many senses."

Park added that the show will have as many ups and downs as a soap opera. "When you think of a travel show, there are certain things you expect to see, like beautiful scenery, delicious food and tourist spots. But in this show, it's a drama. It has a range of genres from thriller to comedy and melodrama. (The cast members) are put in such interesting situations as if they are scripted."

"Family World Tour" airs every Sunday at 9:20 p.m.
