The Fiftieth Anniversary Exhibition of MMCA Korea The Square: Art and Society 1900-2019

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) was established in 1969 to showcase the artwork of contemporary artists in Korea as well as bring in works of artists abroad. This year marks its 50th anniversary, and to commemorate, the MMCA is hosting this exhibition across its Deoksu Palace, Gwacheon and Seoul branches. The Seoul branch will focus on the theme of the "square," which represents a space for "solidarity, division, and utter confusion." The exhibition will feature various mediums of art including installations and photography.

Architecture and Heritage: Unearthing Future
National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea

This exhibition will show how modern contemporary architects have envisioned the future of Korean architecture. While preserving Korea's traditional buildings, they have also included contemporary elements in their works, and depict the country in its potential future form. Space Popular, CL3, Bureau Spectacular, OBBA and Obra Architects are the five groups whose works will be featured in this exhibition.

The Museum of OZ

Released in 1939, "The Wizard of Oz" is one of America's most iconic films, as it was one of the first color movies. Revolving around Dorothy, a girl from Kansas, the film follows her on a magical journey through the magical Land of Oz. In order to get home, she must go through a series of obstacles to find the Wizard. Along the way, she befriends the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion who help her while overcoming struggles of their own. At the exhibition, visitors will be able to see still cuts behind the movie production as well as related artwork from various artists.

My Name is Anne of Green Gables

"Anne of Green Gables" is a well-loved novel published in 1908 by Canadian author L.M. Montgomery, and remains of the most famous children's novels to this day. The story is about an 11-year-old orphan called Anne and her adventures after she is sent to live with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. Known for her bright red hair, Anne stands out from the crowd and has a vivid imagination and warm heart. The book has been adapted into several films, radio adaptations and stage productions, and continues to inspire children today. At this exhibition, her world will be brought to life, with various artists displaying their different interpretations of Green Gables through art.

Born in Madrid, Jaime Hayon is an artist and designer whose vibrant artistic vision has led him to work with some of the world's top brands including Swarovski and Baccarat. He strives to bring together design, renaissance, art and contemporary culture to his work. Hayon is based in Valencia, but also has studios in Barcelona and Treviso. He has won several Elle Decoration International Design Awards and has been recognized by Time magazine as one of the most influential visionaries today. This exhibition will feature his works, ranging from furniture to decorative pieces.

This exhibition is dedicated to the famous artists of 19th century France. Some of these artists include Vincent van Gogh, one of the most influential painters in art history, and Claude Monet. Visitors will not only be able to view many famous works of different artists in one space, but will also be able to enjoy an immersive experience in which entire rooms have been transformed into the paintings themselves. There will also be sections of the exhibition dedicated to creating one's own French-style-influenced artwork.

To the Moon with Snoopy

In 1969, NASA launched a lunar module named Snoopy during the Apollo 10 mission to the moon. The module was shot into space in an orbit beyond the moon, and was never intended to come back to Earth. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the successful project, Lotte Museum has put together an exhibition to show how Snoopy, the well-loved dog from the comic strip Charlie Brown, ended up going to the moon. The works of 20 artists and 12 designers will be on display. Visitors will also be able to see part of the original collection of Charles M. Schulz, the creator of Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

Alphonse Mucha
My Art Museum

Czech artist Alfonse Maria Much (1860-1939) was known for his paintings, illustrations and other graphic art. He also produced many commercial posters, advertising anything from food to cigarettes. Many of the subjects depicted in his works were women, portrayed lavishly and with intricate details. Throughout his career, he created over 240 paintings, many of which will be on display at this upcoming exhibition. Visitors will get a glimpse of his art as well as the influence he had over commercialization and fashion.

What's Your Color

This is an interactive exhibition dedicated to giving visitors a colorful and dynamic experience. The exhibition is divided into five parts: Origin of Color, Color & Flower, Personal Color, Color & Media Art and Color Maker. Curators explain the fundamental theories and concepts of colors, allowing visitors to understand the science behind colors. Visitors will also be matched with their own personal color, view various media art, and create their own makeup.

Minions

The famous minions from the "Despicable Me" series will be coming to life at this exhibition, where visitors will be able to witness their creation process. After the release of the first film, the minions have appeared worldwide and even had their own feature film "Minions," which was released in 2015. There will be life-sized 3D replicas of the characters as well as videos, interactive art and other minions-themed artwork.

Barbara Kruger: Forever

Barbara Kruger is an American artist whose collages and caption-based pieces have garnered the attention of many. By writing powerful statements in bold print, Kruger has garnered the attention of both art lovers and social activists. Several of her most famous quotes include "Your body is a battleground," "I shop therefore I am," and "You are not yourself." She has been working for over 40 years and has not backed down in the face of controversy. For this particular exhibition, she has created a new piece which visitors will be able to view alongside her other works.

This large-scale exhibition will bring together the works of several of the most prominent artists from the 19th to 21st centuries. Seurat, Mondrian, Gaudi, Matisse, Degas, Millet, Gogh, and Mucha will be the featured artists. Their genres range from post-impressionist paintings to theatrical posters. Several of them have become legendary figures of art history, influencing generations of art students and curators to this day. The Children's Museum, located in the National Museum of Korea, is an activity-oriented museum where children can appreciate history. The museum exhibits reproductions of artifacts on display in the permanent exhibition hall so as to enable children to gain a deeper understanding of their cultural heritage. Through the exhibition, children can learn about the ways of life and wisdom of people in ancient times through various experiential exhibits. The museum also provides educational programs that allow children to observe and touch cultural artifacts by themselves and develop their interest in history and culture.
