South Korean and U.S. vessels take part in a large-scale amphibious landing exercise, known as Ssangyong Drill, near the southeastern coastal city of Pohang, Wednesday. The exercise, held from Monday through April 3, resumed after five years of hiatus as part of the allies' Freedom Shield spring joint drill. According to the Navy and Marine Corps, some 1,600 sailors, 30 vessels, 70 fighter jets and 70 amphibious assault vehicles joined the exercise.
