Naver Webtoon will release a Korean webcomic version of "Black Widow," based on the Marvel Comics character ― played by Scarlett Johansson ― who has appeared in most of the Marvel films, every Tuesday and Friday.
The publishing company Sigongsa announced Tuesday that it had signed a deal with online platform giant Naver and Marvel Comics, and released the first Korean-language online issue of "Black Widow," based on the 2016 comics published by Marvel.
It said it actively resized the frames of the comic to fit mobile screens and online browsers.
"With Black Widow, we actively cut the frames of the original comic series and edited the size of speech bubbles and text so that readers can read them more easily … This project came to life after Marvel Comics, which has been eyeing the webtoon medium, held talks with Sigongsa and Naver Webtoon."
The publisher added there has been demand from readers to adapt the series for the web, in a way that is mobile- and online-friendly.
In addition to the release of the series, webtoon versions of "Avengers," "Spider-Man," "Eternals" and "Hulk" will be released on the platform in September.
