K-pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment's all-Japanese girl group NiziU will embark on its Japanese tour for the first time since its 2020 debut, the company said, Monday.
"The nine-piece act will kick off its NiziU Live with U 2022 'Light it Up' tour on July 23 and stage 15 concerts in seven cities," JYP said in a statement. "The first leg of the tour will take place at the World Memorial Hall in Kobe."
NiziU is also set to perform in Tokyo and Osaka, among others, and wrap up its tour in Tokoname, Sept. 18. This is NiziU's first time to play a series of solo concerts in front of a live audience.
"Everyone has been looking forward to our tour," NiziU said through JYP. "We are so glad that we can finally begin it this summer. We cannot wait to see our fans."
NiziU is made up of nine winners from "Nizi Project," an audition show launched by JYP and Japan's Sony Music to seek aspiring singers with a command of Japanese. On the program that aired in Japan in 2020, Mako, Riku, Rima, Rio, Maya, Miihi, Mayuka, Ayaka and Nina were singled out.
The group reigned atop a number of Japanese music charts ― including Line Music and Rakuten ― with its pre-debut track "Make you happy" (2020), and has since released many hits such as "Step and a step" (2021) and "Take a Picture/Poppin' Shakin" (2021).
