The fifth Seoul Brand Global Forum will open online on Wednesday, featuring three prominent overseas experts.
Under the title, "Seoul Initiative: The Future of City Leadership," the four-hour forum will examine Seoul's leadership strategies in the pandemic crisis.
The city invited three experts for the occasion: Simon Anholt, a national identity and reputation expert; Guy Sorman, a public intellectual in economics and philosophy; and Jacques Attali, a counselor to French President Francois Mitterrand and the first chief of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
At the first session, the three speakers will talk and answer questions from the audience. The next session will see Korean scholars discussing Seoul's identity and branding strategies.
The list of Korean participants include professor Lim Hye-bin from Kwangwoon University; professor Chun Jong-woo from Dankook University; Kim Joo-ho, former deputy head of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games organizing committee; professor Choi Eun-jeong from Sangmyung University; and Park Jin-young, a senior official of Seoul Metropolitan Government responsible for communication.
"We organized the conference with the hope that Seoul will take the lead in shaping the world after the COVID-19 pandemic. We invite Seoul residents to come and listen to the ideas," Park said in a statement.
The forum will be livestreamed on YouTube. Search for "Seoul Brand Forum" to watch.
For the last four years, the forum has been an important venue to talk about shaping Seoul's identity and brand. The organizer invited experts from around the world and Korea to hear their ideas and experiences on city branding.
Pre-registration is recommended and the city will give out gifts to 50 in the audience. Visit seoulbrandforum.or.kr for more information.
